Under the Buildings Ordinance, an applicant for appointment as an Authorized Person must already hold a professional registration, which is either:
- a registered architect;
- a registered engineer in the structural or civil engineering discipline; or
- a registered professional surveyor.
A proven track record of relevant working experience, and a successful result in a professional interview, are also required. The appointment is administered by the Buildings Department.
